[:en]Island of Krk is often cited as one of the top destinations for windsurfing in Croatia. The island gets the northern to north-eastern wind Bora from the mountain range Velebit (on the mainland) and the southern/ southern-east wind Jugo which often comes accompanied with rainy weather. The wind Bora blows in strong “hits”, while wind Jugo blows more constantly in the area.

Where to go Windsurfing on the Island of Krk?
Two main places for windsurfing on the Island of Krk are towns Baška and Punat. The town of Baška is interesting for experts in windsurfing. The wind Bora is “born” in the mainland town of Senj and it arrives in Baška in a form of high waves which can be up to 1,5m high. On the other hand, the town of Punat, located in a protected bay is ideal for beginners as it has lighter winds and there are no high waves.
There are several locations in Punat to go windsurfing.
1. Valdižun.
Most popular location. You will find most of the windsurfers starting off from here. It is the top location for windsurfing. This location is behind the islet of Košljun, situated in the middle of the Punat Bay. The location is perfect since you can easily reach the starting point on foot should the winds bring you all the way to the other side of the bay. The location is perfect for freestylers and beginners.
2. Beach Dunat.
It is convenient for arrival by car as you can park right by the entrance to the sea. This location is ideal for top speed fans.
3. Beach Punta Debij.
The “fourth” beach of Punat when coming from the centre. You will see the signs “Plaža/ Beach” when arriving by car. Take the location into consideration during the wind Jugo coming from the south. You will be at the open sea here, however, since the wind is blowing from the south, you will always end up on the coast.

There has, so far, not been any windsurfing school on the island. You will have to satisfy yourself with YouTube tutorials.

[:de]Krk wird sehr oft als ein Top-Ziel für Windsurfen in Kroatien genannt. Auf Krk weht der nördliche bis nordöstliche Wind Bora vom Gebirgszug Velebit (Festland) und der südlich-südöstliche Jugo, der ziemlich oft den Regen bringt. Die Bora ist ein starker Wind der in Böen weht, während Jugo mehr gleichmäßig ist.

Wo kann man auf Krk gut windsurfen?
Zum Windsurfern gibt es hauptsächlich zwei Orte auf der Insel Krk: Baška und Punat. Baška ist für Windsurf-Experten. Der Wind Bora entsteht auf dem Festland, in der Gegend der Stadt Senj und kommt nach Baška in Form von hohen Wellen, die bis zum 1.5 Meter ragen können. Was Punat betrifft, sieht es hier etwas anders aus: da die Stadt in einer geschützten Bucht liegt, gibt es keine hohen Wellen und der Wind ist nicht so stark.
Sonst gibt es mehrere Stellen in Punat wo man gut surfen kann.
- Valdižun
Der populärste Ort: die meisten Windsurfer starten von hier aus, da es ein Top-Ort zum Windsurfen ist. Eine perfekte Lage, mitten in der Punat Bucht, hinter dem Inselchen Košljun: sollte Sie der Wind auf die andere Seite der Bucht treiben, können Sie zu Fuß wieder zum Startpunkt gelangen. Diese Stelle ist perfekt geeignet nicht nur für Freestyler, sondern auch für Anfänger.
- Dunat Strand
Praktisch, da Sie bis hierher mit dem Auto fahren und gleich am Eingang am Meer parken können. Dies ist eine super Stelle für diejenigen die gerne bei hohen Geschwindigkeiten windsurfen.
- Punta Debij Strand
Das ist der „vierte Strand“ von Punat wenn Sie vom Ortszentrum hinauskommen. Sie werden das Zeichen „Plaža/Beach“ sehen. Dies ist eine gute Stelle wenn der Südwind Jugo weht. Hier sind Sie auf dem offenen Meer, aber da der Wind immer vom Süden her weht, werden Sie immer an der Küste landen.

Also, wenn Sie windsurfen wollen, ist Baška der richtige Ort um die Ausrüstung zu mieten, ob Surfbrett oder auch Stand Up Paddling Board, am besten schauen Sie vorbei bei:
