Spending winter holidays on the island of Krk is something you’d never think of?
Well, in December – as almost every country in this world – also Croatia turns into a beautiful winter wonderland.
Decorated pine trees, Christmas songs, the scent of mulled wine and cooked sausages while you stroll through the streets are only a part of this whole winter holiday atmosphere.

After a long tourist season, December is the time of the year when locals can finally relax and rest their body and soul! That doesn’t mean there are no more tourist here, but there is not as crowded as in summer season and locals have more time for being themselves and to enjoy this special time of the year.
Unlike the continental part of Croatia, there is almost never snowing on the island of Krk which makes all the Christmas concerts and fairs even more enjoyable.
Island of Krk’s Christmas offer
Every town or village on the Island of Krk has organised special entertainment programme so even a Christmas Fair Hopping from town to town is not a bad idea. Visiting magical fairs full of traditional and authentic specialties is a true escape from everyday life.
Apart from traditional fair trade events, handicrafts products and unique ornaments from selected local artisans followed by Christmas songs, you’ll get to enjoy in authentic local specialties as well.
And you cannot come to our island and not try every possible dish made of Codfish. After all, we are surrounded by the Adriatic sea 🙂
Days of Codfish are traditionally held in a few towns like Njivice, Malinska, Krk or even Vrbnik where you can enjoy this gastronomic pleasure at Vinotel Gospoja along with authentic wine varieties – a homemade products of PZ Gospoja.
New Year’s Eve by locals
In the last few years it became a tradition to celebrate New Year’s Eve at noon which is always followed by some charity events and remarkable concerts. And a toast with the Mayor of the Town of Krk at noon is something really special and enyojed by both locals and tourists!
The idea of spending the Advent Season on the Island of Krk when everything is about the excellent food, drinks, unique entertainment, magical lights and lots of fun is definitelly worth it and will satisfy even the most demanding visitors.
